Jon Stewart is synonymous with The Daily Show, having hosted it from 1999 to 2015. It was reported today that Stewart will return to host The Daily Show on Mondays in 2024.
Since Trevor Noah departed from hosting The Daily Show in 2022, Comedy Central has brought in numerous comedians as guest weekly hosts, but the network hasn’t chosen a permanent host yet.
Jon Stewart will be back behind The Daily Show’s desk starting Monday, February 12. He will host The Daily Show on Mondays only throughout 2024 and will produce the show on the other nights.
“Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season,” said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”
